Peace Comes In
by Noah MacKinnon
Peace came in like a bright morning
There was nothing I could do
But stop and feel its warmth
And sing its heavenly praises
And look to the wooden bridge
To which I have given everything
Because it promised to ring me out
All the black edged feelings that tear
All of the purpose out my marrow
And that single, solid mahogany
Kept my dreams in the ether of spring
And kept them there till the leaves grew green
And the ground returned to softness
It was only then that I looked back across
And felt the love I’ve always wanted
