A Painful Memory Soon to Be
by Sumire Foster
For they say
If you love someone, let them go.
Even though they might not want to be alone.
To go through all the pain you have known,
Oh how it must hurt to be on your own.
If you love someone, let them go.
To live a lie for the rest of your life.
In denia, knowing there is only one side.
What worth does that provide?
In all truth,
Nothing.
If you love someone, let them go.
Though they push to continue,
It must come to an end.
For the tears you have cried will continue to descend.
You can choose to pretend,
But the sorrow will forever extend.
If you love someone, let them go.
When all you can see is the beauty of one.
In an instant it can be
Undone.
Why should one express when the other has made their claim,
And then arise in a pile of shame.
If you love someone, let them go.
In time, you will come to know the truth.
For your lover to express how they truly feel
Though it may be the half-truth
They will forever be your Achilles Heel
Then it will show they were not meant for you.
So please, If you love someone let them go.
